What is Foot Reflexology?
With its roots in China, Japan, Egypt and India, reflexology is the art of massaging, squeezing, pressing, and holding parts of the feet that correspond to every body system, organ and gland, down to the cellular level, in the body. "Reflex" areas are formed with 7,200 nerve endings in each foot. Through this intentional stimulation, energy or vibrations flow along the energy channels or meridians that pass through the feet following paths throughout the body. By being aware, present and relaxed, the body through its innate wisdom can more easily restore balance and harmony. Healing is the result.
Feet take a real beating. Walking or standing on concrete, wearing inappropriate shoes, carrying more body weight than is recommended, exercising too much or too little all takes its toll on our feet. They are the farthest body part from the heart, where circulation may stagnate, so it's important to stimulate blood flow. Gravity also pulls inorganic waste downward and can build up in the bottom of the feet, creating deposits which limit flexibility and movement. Any health imbalance or injury can also contribute to the buildup of waste.
Treatment Options:
On the Go ~ A 15-minute treatment designed for tired and achy feet. It will leave you and your feet feeling pampered and rejuvenated.
Mellowing ~ This 30-minute, relaxing treatment is done on a massage table and begins with a gentle foot cleanse followed by warm towels. Dissolve tensions and the day's stress as your feet and legs are massaged. To deepen relaxation, warming toe stones or hot spinal basaltic stones may be added.
Mind & Body Transformer ~ The ultimate to get out of your "head" and let go of all the "to do's" begins with a warm foot soak in a ceramic basin. Choose from juniper for its purifying and detoxifying qualities, lavender for its antiseptic, cleansing and relaxing effects, or naturally soothing, fragrance free, 100% colloidal oatmeal. As your feet soak and feel supported by stones of the Northwest, you will be guided in a visualization to deepen your connection to your body and the planet.
Continuing on a massage table, your body's immune system will be strengtened by a massage of feet and legs with a looftah, followed by organic lotions. In this 50-minute treatmen, you will experience a place of peace, support and safety, transformed!
Restorative ~ If you are experiencing health challenges generally or feet problems specifically, your feet are my window into the functioning of your body's systems, i.e., skeletal, nervous, circulatory, digestive, urinary, respiratory, skin, and immune. Any physical difficulty is a message from your body; it is a message relating to a consciousness imbalance. In other words, what we think, beliefs we hold, can affect physical wellbeing. An initial, complimentary 15-minute consultation precedes the first restorative treatment. For best results, interactive treatments are recommended on a regular basis, often weekly, combined with journaling and specialized exercises between appointments. Forty-five minute, restorative (returning to health) treatments are unique to each person. A selection of organic lotions and natural cleansers is offered.
